The best thing about eating the seasons is that you get each fruit, vegetable, meat or fish at thier peak! Although some are good for over half of the year, others only hit their peak for as little as a month.
Seasonal eating means extra flavour, extra crunch, extra juiciness and extra value! Entering the New Year brings plenty of excitement about a fresh start or trying something new, so hopefully our guide to what's in, will help to enspire out of the allotment... beetroot, brussels, cauliflower, celeraiac, celery, chicory, horseradish, jerusalem artichoke, kale, kholrabi, leeks, parsnips, potatoes, rhubarb, shallots, swede & turnips if your dog has a well trained nose get them hunting out the last of the black truffles!!! to pick from the orchard... apples, pears from the barrel of your beretta or your friendly local game keeper... partridge, pheasant, pigeon, rabbit, teal, venison and off the boat... clams, dover sole, gurnard, haddock, halibut, hake, lemon sole, lobster, mackerel, mussels, oysters, red mullet, sea bream, skate & 'the king of the fish' turbot
